BOTOX® / DYSPORT® / XEOMIN®
Gravity and overactive muscles in your face cause wrinkles, creases, and folds in your skin. Wrinkle relaxers like Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin temporarily relax the muscles you use to frown, squint, raise your eyebrows, and smile. These products are called neurotoxins and are injected into muscles allowing wrinkles and creases to fade over time.
Neuromodulators or neurotoxins are also botulinum type A injections and relax your skin by restricting facial muscles from contracting. Once your facial muscles are relaxed, wrinkles are reduced, oil production decreases, and facial contouring works to give you a younger appearance. Using neuromodulators like Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin gives you the ability to have natural facial movements and expressions, plus you have a relaxed and smoother face after treatment.
An Injectable made for maintaining a youthful appearance. These products are an effective treatment to relax dynamic muscle movement in certain areas of the face that create unwanted lines and wrinkles. Results are typically seen in 3-14 days and last 3-4 months.
Botox uses botulinum toxin to block nerves that allow a muscle to function. Botox relaxes muscles and leaves you with smoother skin with fewer lines and wrinkles.
Botox generally takes about 15 to 30 minutes to inject, but the treatment is painless.
Botox injections take time to take effect, and you will see results in a day or two but watch for the full effect to take up to two weeks. Fine lines and wrinkle reduction often last up to four months, and it is recommended you get maintenance injections every few months.
Botox is FDA-approved and safe when used by a licensed injector.
Dysport is a fast-acting prescription injection proven to smooth moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows. Dysport does not change the look or movement of your face, but only relaxes the muscles to smooth creases and wrinkles. Botox and Dysport work in much the same way but vary in the amount of time it takes to work and the amount needed.
Dysport often has more immediate effects in some patients than Botox, and it may last up to six months. Dysport is more diluted than Botox and spreads to a wider area once injected. If you are treating a larger area like the forehead, Dysport may work well for you.
Xeomin is made from incobotulinumtoxin A and is approved by the FDA for treating moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows. Xeomin contains only one ingredient: incobotulinumtoxin A, a part of the bacterium Clostridium botulinum family. Xeomin is a pure form injectable, and the human body is less likely to reject Xeomin. Some aestheticians prefer Xeomin for that very reason.
